Jamie Benson Harlequins Contract Extension

Harlequins are thrilled to announce Jamie Benson has signed a contract extension with the Club.

The 22-year-old has penned an extension after a strong campaign in the Quarters, which has seen the fly-half earn 20 first team appearances to date.

Benson made his Gallagher Premiership bow in November 2024, and more recently shone in Quins’ first away victory over Saracens in 13 years at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The young out-half, who recently graduated from Cambridge University, scored 13 second-half points in a Player of the Match display to propel the Quarters to victory over their London rivals.

Benson also played a prominent role throughout the Club’s Premiership Cup campaign as Quins reached the knockout stages and boasts an impressive 93% strike rate from the tee this season.

“I’m delighted – I have been at the Club since I was 13 years old. It’s my boyhood club and I have been coming to The Stoop from a young age,” said Benson.

“Coming out of university and being in the programme full-time for the first time has been a big step up in standard – I’ve made my Premiership debut and earned a few more appearances, so I’m pleased so far.

“I’m very lucky to have Nick Evans as one of my coaches at the Club and to work closely with Marcus (Smith) and Jarrod (Evans) daily. They have great rugby minds so I am just trying to absorb as much as I can and get better every day.”

Harlequins Head Coach, Danny Wilson added: “Jamie is a fantastic young man who has demonstrated a great level of development in the opportunities he’s earned in the First Team this season.

“He's an intelligent rugby player and he’s very accurate off the kicking tee, which is hugely important for every ten. We have a strong group of fly-halfs at the Club, it’s great to see how they learn from each other every day and push one another on the training pitch.

“We’re delighted Jamie will continue his journey at Harlequins as we work closely with him to fulfil his bright potential.”
