Glasgow and the Stormers secure away wins to open the Champions Cup for 2025/26

Stafford McDowall and Paul de Villiers scored the winning tries for their teams awy from home to secure away wins in the opening round of the Champions Cup.
Glasgow looked set to fall short if the first half wa anything to go by as Sale hit the ground running and took a 14-12 lead into the break after holding a 14-0 lead. Glasgow fought back and it started a minute before half time with Rory Darge crossing and then two minutes after half time with Kyle Steyn crossing fo a try. Sale were unable to get back into the game after Stafford McDowall gave Glasgow a 14-26 lead after 54 minutes.

At Bayonne the Stormers held off the hosts despite spending 30 mins with 14 players following a 20 minute red and a yellow card straight after. They were helped with Bayonne going down to 13 players in the final 10 minutes for scrum and try line pressure. Clinton Swart kicked a late penalty to secure the win after the Stormers held a 17-23 lead with Bayonne fighting back.
