Sale Sharks team to travel to Sandy Park
- 259
Winger Gurswin Wehr makes his first Sharks start as Alex Sanderson shuffles his pack for a tricky away fixture against Exeter Chiefs in the Prem Rugby Cup. England U20s skipper Tom Burrow captains a team which shows 14 changes from the Gallagher Prem defeat against Northampton last time out.
Former Chief Jacques Vermuelen is the only starter to keep his place as Sharks go in search of a win at Sandy Park to keep the chances of securing a semi-final spot alive.
It’s all change in the front row as Tumy Onansanya, Tadgh McElroy and Patreece Bell come into face the Chiefs, who sit fourth in Pool A.
The familiar Prem Rugby Cup duo of Patrick Hogg and Tom Burrow returns in the second row while in the back row, Jos Gilmore is flanked by the experience of Vermeulen and Dan du Preez.
Dom Hanson and Tom Curtis are the half-backs and they’ll have the Bedlow siblings – Sam and Joe – outside them in the centres.
Arron Reed is back from a knee injury to start on the left with Wehr on the right and Ollie Davies at full-back.
Ethan Caine is once again the replacement hooker and he’s joined on the bench by academy props Ralph McEachran and Tye Raymont. Tristan Woodman and Reuben Logan make up the rest of the forwards on the bench.
Nye Thomas, Marius Louw and Albert Bradshaw are the backs replacements.
