A product of The British Schools of Montevideo, Santiago Civetta was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The robust flanker went on to study at Uruguays oldest public University, the University of the Republic.

He also works as rugby teacher at The British Schools of Montevideo.

Between 2016 and 2018 Civetta played 12 matches Uruguay U20 scoring 3 tries.

He made his international debut for Uruguay against Argentina XV in a World Cup warm-up match on 23 February 2019.

Santiago Civetta was included in the Uruguayan squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup which was held in Japan for the first time and also marked his first World Cup appearance.

During the 21/22 international season, Civetta played 8 matches for his national side scoring 1 try.

Ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023, Civetta has been named in the squad for Uruguay.
