A native of County Donegal, Dunleavy first stepped on to the rugby pitch at his local club at six years old and went to Colaiste Ailigh.
After coming through the age grades with Ulster, he joined the Academy for the 2017/18 season after some impressive performances for City of Derry in 2B of the Ulster Bank League.
His contribution for the club didn't go unnoticed as he snapped up the prestigious Ulster Bank League Provincial Player of the Year for that season.
Since joining the Academy, Dunleavy moved club to Malone and was named in the Ireland U20 squad for the 2018 U20 World Rugby Championship in France.
