A talented front rower from Cameroon, Thierry Kounga began his rugby journey when he left his home country and moved to Johannesburg.
Once in Johannesburg Kounga represented club side Raiders and was called into the Valke side.
He trained with the Waratahs in 2014 while they were on tour in South Africa and earned himself a contract with the NSW Country Eagles.
He spent one season in Sydney before he signed a two-year deal to play for French club Carcassonne.
In 2017 he returned to South Africa and joined the Sharks where he made his Currie Cup debut against the Cheetahs.
