Shortly after making his international debut in 2004, Ryan Jones went on to help his country to win their first Grand Slam in 27 years.

Following that success, the back-row forward was called up as a replacement for the 2005 Lions Tour to New Zealand.

The Welsh international was on the extended squad list prior to the Tour and an injury to Simon Taylor paved the way for Jones to make his mark in a Lions jersey.

After scoring a try in the warm-up match against Otago he was given his Test debut off the bench in the first match against the All Blacks before starting the following two.

Again Jones was called up as a replacement four years later in South Africa but within days of arrival he had to return back home on medical grounds.

The back-row forward won four Championships, three of them Grand Slams, during his 75-cap Wales career.
