Bastide had a playing career that spanned over 10 years, featuring for Perpignan , Montpellier , Grenoble and Arras as a full back.
After retiring with Arras, Bastide took up a coaching role the following season with the side which lasted 2 years. During his time with the French club, he also took on a temporary role within the France Ladies side in 2007.
His next role was to come in 2012, where he was head coach of the u20 side. He held the position for 3 years, leading them in 3 Junior World Cups.
In 2015, after Guy Noves appointment of head coach of the French national team, Noves named Bastide defence coach.
