Young quartet sign new deals with Scarlets

Four of Scarlets' exciting young prospects have been handed new contracts as the region prepares for the Guinness PRO12 play-off against Leinster on Friday evening.

Forwards Josh Macleod, 20, Tom Phillips, 21, and Tom Price, 24, have all put pen to paper on new deals keeping them at Parc y Scarlets along with centre Steff Hughes, 23.

Twenty-year-old Macleod has enjoyed a breakthrough season for the Scarlets, including a European Rugby Champions Cup start against champions Saracens, and has won plaudits for his presence in the loose and physical ability over the ball.

Former Wales Under 20 captain Tom Phillips, from Llanelli, led the young Wales side to a historic Grand Slam in 2016.

24-year-old lock Price joined the Scarlets in the summer of 2015 from Leicester Tigers making his competitive debut in the season opener against Glasgow in September of the same year.

Centre Hughes played his early rugby with one of Scarlets' grassroots clubs Llanelli Wanderers before joining the Academy. The former Wales Under 20s captain made a phenomenal comeback to action after suffering a serious knee injury in action for Llanelli RFC.
