With 8 English clubs in action this weekend we look back at Premiership clubs success in Europe
As we make our way into the quarter-final stages of both the Champions Cup and the Challenge Cup, there are eight English sides still in the hunt for European success. In the Champions Cup there are four sides remaining with Bath, Northampton, Saracens and Wasps all qualifying from the pool stages to book a quarter-final place. However it will not easy for the four English sides with all four of them playing away from home as an English side looks to win Europe's top prize for the first time since 2007, when Wasps defeated Leicester Tigers in an all English final. As for the Challenge Cup, English sides have dominated the competition winning 10 of the previous 18 tournaments. Gloucester and London Irish both secured home quarter-finals and there will also definitely be an English side in the semi-final with Exeter Chiefs entertaining Newcastle Falcons at Sandy Park. Northampton Saints are the current champions and one of the four sides remaining in the competition will be hoping to make sure the Challenge Cup stays in England.
