Winners & Losers: Wales v Georgia

Wakes kicked off their 2019 Rugby World Cup campaign with a bonus point victory against stubborn Georgian side at the City of Toyota Stadium on Monday.

Warren Gatland’s side beat their European counterparts 43-13, in a match which saw them outscore Georgia six tries to two in the Pool D encounter.

Here are winners and losers from the encounter:

Winners: Gareth Davies And Tomos Williams

Both scrum halves impressed in the match, Gareth Davies played a hand in five of the six tries Wales scored on the day. In the 47 minutes that he played in, he created the first two tries of the match and gained a solid 27 metres on his own.

Williams came on with 33 minutes to go and really made a huge impact during a time where georgia was doing a lot of the playing. The 24-year-old made 42 metres, beat two defenders, made 1 clean break and scored a try to cap it all off.

Loser: Aled Davies

The third choice No. 9 will really struggle to get any sort of game time with form Davies and Williams is showing.

Winners: Josh Navidi and Justin Tipuric

It was really difficult to pick one of the other so that is why both are getting a mention. Navidi put in a huge defensive effort today and although many will expect that from him, it cannot go unnoticed. The No. 8 made 14 tackles today and carried the ball on seven occasions.

Tipuric was in contention for MOTM today, but sadly lost out to Jake Ball right in the end. The loose forward was everywhere today and manade to even score a try.  His game stats were eight tackles, six carries and three defenders beaten.

Special Mention: Josh Adams
