Wilson to captain Bath Rugby at Premiership Rugby 7s

Jack Wilson will captain Bath Rugby at the Premiership Rugby 7s at Franklin's Gardens on 27-28 July.

The Bath Rugby winger, who has been capped at international level for New Zealand and England 7s will lead the team as they prepare to face Worcester Warriors and Exeter Chiefs on Friday.

Wilson will be joined by the experienced Chris Cook and Darren Allinson, as well as fellow first team players Darren Atkins and Max Wright.

Levi Davis, a try scorer for Bath in last season’s competition will look to display his speed and guile at the home of Northampton Saints alongside Wil Partington. Tom Doughty, Jack Davies, Tom de Glanville, Oli Cattell and Will Butt, who have all recently signed senior Academy contracts ahead of the 2018/19 campaign join Davis and Partington in the squad.

Bath Rugby squad for the Premiership Rugby 7s

1. Max Wright

Wright made his breakthrough for Yorkshire Carnegie in the 2016/17 season and quickly showed his promise for the Championship side. He replicated his club form at international level, helping England U20s to the Six Nations title in 2016. A year later, the agile was part of England U20s Grand Slam-winning campaign before joining Bath last season.

2. Tom Doughty

Doughty recently signed a senior Academy contract with Bath Rugby ahead of the 2018/19 season after featuring for Bath United in their Premiership Rugby A League. The hooker will also captain the University of Bath for the forthcoming season.

3. Jack Davies

Davies will join Doughty in the senior Academy for the new campaign, and will combine playing with studying for a Business Masters at the University of Bath. The back rower, who is equally comfortable at lock was a regular feature in the Bath United side last year.

4. Chris Cook

A graduate of the Bath Rugby Academy, Cook has made over 100 appearances in the first team. The experienced scrum-half will head into his 10th year with the Club this season, and will be looking to make an impact at Franklin’s Gardens this weekend.

5. Tom de Glanville

Born and bred in Bath, de Glanville has been in the Academy since the age of 14. The exciting fly-half played in both the A League and U18 competitions for Bath last season, whilst also representing England U18 against France and Wales.

He will head into the 2018/19 season having put pen to paper on senior Academy terms with the Club.

6. Jack Wilson (c)

Wilson is no stranger to the shorter form of the game having represented both England and New Zealand on the international stage.

The winger joined Bath in October 2016, following a spell with New Zealand provincial side Otago and has made 19 first team appearances during that time.

7. Darren Atkins

Atkins has been with the Club since the age of 15, and has quickly risen through the ranks. The full-back, who can also play on the wing, made his first team debut against Leicester Tigers in Anglo-Welsh Cup in November 2017.

A former England U20 international, Atkins was part of the side that won the World Championships in both 2016 and 2017.

8. Oli Cattell

Cattell has been with the Bath Academy since the age of 16 and played in the U18 and A League competitions for the Club during 2017/18.

Cattell, who can play both in the second row and back row has international honours with Scotland, having featured for the U18s in 2016/17.

9. Will Butt

Butt has played for the Academy for the past four seasons, whilst captaining Canford School during his A Level studies.

The centre also led Bath Rugby’s U18 side last season, guiding the team to impressive performances against London Irish and Harlequins before injury cut short his season.

10. Levi Davis

One of two surviving players from last season’s competition, Davis will be looking to display his pace and trickery once again at Franklin's Gardens. The winger, who marked his first team debut against London Irish with a try last season, has been a regular for Bath United in the past two years.

11. Darren Allinson

Allinson initially joined Bath Rugby on a short-term loan in November 2016 from London Irish, before signing a permanent agreement ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The scrum-half made over 120 appearances with the Exiles following a move from his native Wales, where he played for Cardiff Blues.

12. Wil Partington  

A former Beechen Cliff student, Partington has regularly featured for Bath United over the last two seasons.

The quick-footed Partington, who is comfortable across all back three positions, has shown his counter-attacking qualities in abundance and looks set to be a huge asset to the Academy.
