Willem Nel delighted to make debut for Scotland
Scotland prop Willem Nel was overjoyed to make his international debut in the win over Italy on Saturday in Turin.
Nel came off the bench to help Scotland close out a 16-12 victory on his first outing for his adopted country.
The Edinburgh prop qualified after completing his three-year residency and reiterated how grateful he was to get the opportunity.
“That was really tough, one of my toughest 30 minutes but I’m glad I got on the pitch and I was very excited. It was very emotional to get my first cap.
"For Scotland to give me this opportunity is amazing and I wanted to grab it with both hands and show that I can be what they need.
"It was three years of hard work and it was up to me to grab the opportunity. After the whistle I had a moment to think what a great feeling it was and what a great opportunity.”
