Why Scott Robertson didn't breakdance after the Crusaders' victory

Fans globally have come to enjoy Scott Robertson's break dancing moves after his team wins a competition.

While the past three seasons of Super Rugby saw the 45-year-old bust a move, after the Crusaders victory on Sunday there was a lack of dance moves from Robertson as his side clinched the Super Rugby Aotearoa title.

Speaking after the win over the Highlanders, Robertson explained the competition not yet being over was one of the reasons he chose not to dance in celebration.

"I didn't do any back-spinning at this stage because we've still got a job to do. I felt it was (respectful) to the comp and to (Crusaders prop) Oli (Jager) after the head knock he got. I think the haka will suffice in respect to local iwi and what the trophy means.

"We'll have a couple of quiet ones and reflect, but we realise we've still got a big game ahead. There are curfews – it's not like normal when you get to your last game and sleep when you can."

While the Crusaders' coach did not break out the dance moves on Sunday, Crusaders' fans might just be now with reports suggesting that Robertson is set to stay at the franchise until 2023.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Robertson is likely to sign a new deal with the Crusaders and New Zealand Rugby after claiming a fourth straight Super Rugby title.

Robertson is off-contract at the end of the 2021 season and according to the Herald, he is looking to extend his deal with the Crusaders through to the end of the 2023 season. The Crusaders boss won Super Rugby at his first attempt after successful stints with New Zealand u20s and Canterbury and went on to complete a Super Rugby three-peat in 2019.
