Welsh derbies make a dull start to 2021

FT Scarlets 20 - Dragons 3
FT Cardiff Blues 3 - Ospreys 17
2021 has got off to a dull start after both Welsh Derbies failed to entertain in the Pro 14 on friday evening.
Scarlets proved too strong for a poor Dragons outfit, while Ospreys punished the Cardiff Blues.
The first derby dished out a poor first half, with Scarlets leading just 6-3 at half time. The game opened up more in the second half, which allowed Scarles to increase their lead as they scored the first try of the game through Sione Kalamafoni after 56 minutes,
That looked to be enough for the home side, but Sam Costelow scored and converted a try right at the death to pile on the misery to the Dragons, who were really poor on the night.
The second derby of the night, promised much more, but again struggled to really get going. A rather tight first half saw Ospreys lead at half time through a converted try to Ifan Phillips.
Ospreys were able to build on that lead and put the Blues under pressure throughout the second half. Cardiff struggled defensively and discipline got the better of them as they received three yellow cards.
Ospreys increased their lead with a penalty try after 60 minutes, and would be the last score of the game. Ospreys pressed on but failed to execute their multiple chances inside the Cardiff 22m
