Le Roux in demand: According to reports emerging today, South African fullback Willie le Roux is a heavily wanted man across multiple leagues, as his current contract nears an end. Le Roux, who currently plies his domestic trade with the Cheetahs out of Bloemfontein in Super Rugby, is widely expected to leave South African shores upon the close of next year’s Rugby World Cup in England and Wales. 25 year old le Roux, who has established himself as one of the game’s leading attacking threats since making his international debut for the Boks back in 2013, represents a target for a string of high profile clubs including both Toulouse and Saracens. Capped on 25 occasions for South Africa, another possible destination for le Roux may well come in the shape of the Japanese Top League according to French paper Midi Olympique.
Saints sweat on Kahn: Northampton Saints fans are waking up to bad news this morning, as it emerges that star scrumhalf Kahn Fotuali’i could be facing several weeks on the sidelines with a shoulder injury. Fotuali’i sustained the injury in the act of scoring a try during last weekend’s crucial 30-25 victory over Harlequins at Twickenham. Having lost their replacement scrumhalf, Saints were forced to field fullback Ben Foden at halfback for the closing stages of the clash with Conor O’Shea’s Quins, managing to hold out late on. According to Saints forwards coach Dorian West, Fotuali’i is likely to miss this week’s clash with Newcastle Falcons at Franklin’s Gardens at the very least, with an exact timeframe for his absence as yet unknown. Having undergone multiple scans and X-rays, the Samoan scrumhalf is now waiting on expert opinion to determine his expected return.
