Augustine Pulu signs for Blues for next season
Pulu, who has played two Tests for the All Blacks and over 50 games for the Chiefs, has signed for two years with the Blues.
Pulu made his debut for the Chief in 2012 and made two appearances for the All Blacks in 2014, playing against USA and Scotland.
Blues coach Omaga said Pulu's signing will be an important one for the 2017 campaign: "He will bring a different approach and style to the halfback game which will provide us with more options in how we play."
Johnny McNicholl to join Scarlets in 2017
McNicholl, who is currently playing his fourth season with the Crusaders, said he has been approached by the Saracens Club and agreed to a 2.5-year contract that begins at the end of 2016.
"This is a great opportunity to experience living and playing in different parts of the world. I would like to do some more travel while I don't have family commitments back in New Zealand, and I am so fortunate to be able to do that with my rugby career," said McNicholl.
The Crusaders outside back will head to Wales at the end of this year to play for the Scarlets Club in Llanelli.
Former Blues lock Kurtis Haiu dies at 31
Haiu, who made his Super 14 debut off the bench for the Blues in their season opening match against the Hurricanes back in 2006, has lost his battle with cancer at age 31.
Haiu was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer in 2011 that prematurely ended his promising career.
"I loved playing footy with Kurtis and I will treasure those memories of my Blues brother and pray that he rests in peace," said Blues captain Jerome Kaino who led the tributes to his former team mate.
Haiu bows down with 53 games for the Blues as well as 76 matches for Auckland.
