WATCH: Romain Poite denies a young Stuart Hogg a try on his test debut back in 2012

Now a seasoned Scottish International and a British and Irish and his country's captained, we rewind to 2012 when an exciting fullback from Glasgow made his test debut against Wales during the Six Nations.

Hogg was an early replacement for Max Evans who couldn't continue after just 15 minutes. Hogg's first touch of test rugby was a kick across field which looked to have gone off the side of his boot to George North. North sprinted at the Scottish defensive line where he met Hogg, with the Welshman getting the better of the collision but was ultimately dragged down.

His next attack showed a glimpse of what we would see in the future as he looked to attack the outside channel before offloading but his foot was in touch. Playing on the wing, Hogg made some good reads on defence and even made a crucial tackle on Taulupe Faletau in the 52nd minute.

Hogg looked to have got a try on his debut on the hour mark as he finished off a lovely attack but a younger-looking Romain Poite denied the Scotsman with replays showing that he may have been hard done by.

Hogg came close soon and after and continued to grow in the game making a great break from his 22 before being taken into touch.

Having beaten Ireland 21–23 in round one, Wales ran out eventual 27-13 winners against Scotland.

Warren Gatland would lead the side to a 12–19 win over England, 24–3 victors over Italy and would complete the Grand Slam against France beating them 16–9.
