Watch: Former Munster hooker sets a try with his cultured left foot

Former Munster hooker Rhys Marshall step up a try for replacement Highlanders hooker against the Western Force on Friday.

Marshall came off the bench in the Highlanders' 61-10 victory over the Western Force and managed to assist and score a try.

The 29-year-old bundled over the tryline at the back of a rolling maul shortly after coming off the bench but it was his second try involvement that really impressed.

He threw a short lineout ball Hugh Renton, who rode the attempted tackle and offloaded to Marshall. The hooker saw the cover defence charging down in his direction and put in a neat chip over the top.

The bounce of the ball was unkind to the hooker but thankfully for him it was just as unkind to the Western Force as the bounced to Folau Fakatava who finished off the chance.

Speaking after the game, Highlanders captain Aaron Smith said it was a big result as they look to make an impact in the playoffs.

"It's an outstanding result for us, great to be back at home, we had a good couple of weeks away," he told Stan Sports.

"To put a performance like that out there, one we've probably been searching for all year (was great).

"You could see the energy ... really proud of our effort, a full 23-man squad, to finish like that is pretty special."

"We'll take the win, they don't come easy in this comp ... we're just trying to build our game for the playoffs."
