Watch: Chris Ashton's record-breaking hat-trick against Bristol Bears
- 2070
Former England winger Chris Ashton is now the Premiership's all-time leading try scorer.
Ashton's first try on Saturday against the Bristol Bears saw him surpass Tom Varndell, the 35-year-old scored a further two tries to complete his hat-trick in the Tigers' 56-26 victory.
It took Ashton just four minutes to score his record-breaking 93rd Premiership try as he got on the end of Matias Moroni’s kick to score in the right-hand corner.
Ashton was set free down the wing to score his second try in the 22nd minute. Leicester captain Ellis Genge powered through a tackle before passing to George Ford. He moved the ball onto Freddie Steward and it was his pass that sent Ashton clear down the left.
Ashton's support lines have been a trademark of his game throughout his career and it paid dividends for his third try. He run a classic support line off the shoulder of Ben Youngs to complete his hattrick, finishing the score from his own 22.
His tries against Bristol elevated him to 95 Premiership tries and his hattrick try in the 27th meant he broke another Varndell recording scoring Leicester Tigers' fastest Premiership hat-trick from the start of a game.
