Warren Gatland returns to Wales for key meeting

Warren Gatland has returned to Wales and has attended a key meeting involving the WRU and the four professional clubs.

Gatland has been away on holiday and has also undertaken a reconnaissance visit of Australia ahead of Wales' tour in the summer, so has been out of the country for the best part of a month.

However, Ospreys CEO Lance Bradley posted a photo of Gatland and a number of other key stakeholders and decision-makers at the Principality Stadium for what he described as a "really good" meeting.

"Another really good session at the Principality Stadium today, helping develop the ongoing strategy for Welsh rugby," said Bradley.

"All four pro-clubs involved, plus the WRU. And especially good to have Warren Gatland join us. Working together really will make us all stronger."

After a dire Six Nations in which Wales finished bottom of the table, Gatland vowed to work more collaboratively with the regions in order to futureproof the game.

When asked how much he gets to visit each region, he said: "A reasonable amount. I'm away for the next couple of weeks, then I come back and I'll be getting around the regions as much as I can. 

"We have spoken about, in the off-season, is there a possibility of bringing in some of those players in for a few days, a squad of 34 or 35. Or bring a couple of teams collectively into the Vale and work with the regions and coaches."
