Wallaroos stunned by rampant Japan
- 1353
A major upset on the Gold Coast saw Japan topple the Wallaroos.
The first half was a real arm-wrestle as the teams left the field for the break with the scoreboard bare.
In the second stanza, however, it was Japan who drew first blood as Ayasa Otsuka dotted down between the uprights.
The Wallaroos scored a try of their own in the 55th minute through Ashley Marsters to put the score at 7-5.
However, Japan struck back swiftly as Kyoko Hosokawa sliced through the defence and put the ball over the line for the final points of the match.
