Australian coach Ewen McKenzie said the Wallabies have one hand on the Mandela Challenge Plate, but face a tough assignment against South Africa in Cape Town next week.
The Springboks, as holders of the trophy, need only to win at Newlands on September 27 to retain the silverware - after Australia edged out South Africa 24-23 in the first of the two-Test series earlier this month in Perth.
The Wallabies have not won in Cape Town for 22 years with losses in their last six encounters at Newlands.
