WAL 25-28 FIJ: Wales reaction (head coach Lynn, co-captains Williams & Callender)

Wales head coach Sean Lynn and co-captains Kate Williams and Alex Callender speak after their narrow defeat by Fiji in their final match in Pool B at Sandy Park on Saturday.

Sean Lynn, head coach

On whether this was the toughest of the three defeats to take:

"It definitely is but this is test-match rugby. We had opportunities, we didn't take them. One thing I will say is the character they showed form half-time to get themselves back in it was brilliant, but test-match rugby is brutal and we just didn't take opportunities."

On what's happened to the programme, given the run of defeats:

"We will be moving forward, I can promise you that. Some of the youngsters who have been involved in this World Cup - Seren Lockwood came on and made a massive impact.  I am not looking back, I am looking forward."

On his four-year plan:

"We are going into the Celtic Challenge then we can build going into Six Nations. I will be keeping in touch with PWR players and we are going to be looking to build and move forward.

"The changes I will be making for Celtic Challenge, they will be fit for purpose. Individuals will be training a lot more centralised with us. We are very proud and we don't want to be going into Six Nations with no wins."

Kate Williams, co-captain

On whether this was the toughest of the three defeats to take:

"It is a tough loss to take. We are in a tough place at the minute but I don't doubt the amount of belief and the amount of heart that this team can give. We just need to take our opportunities; we are making them. But it hurts.

"Thanks to all the supporters who have come out over the campaign. It has been brilliant. Seeing all those red jerseys in the crowd, it's been amazing."

Alex Callender, co-captain

"We are in a real tough place but I believe in Lynny [head coach Sean Lynn], I believe in the team that we've got, I believe in our staff, that we can turn this around. Those three games didn't showcase what we are all about. I am just gutted. I want to apologise to the fans. Thank you so much for sticking with us and believing in us."
