Waikato out for Ranfurly Revenge

Waikato and Otago face off in the Mitre 10 Cup Championship Final today with a place in the Premiership next season on the line.

Since 2006, the two sides have faced off 9 times with Waikato claiming 5 wins and Otago winning 4. 

However the last of those 4 defeats will hurt Waikato the most with the Forsyth Barr side taking the Ranfurly Shield off Waikato.

While the big lure for the Championship finalists is promotion to the Premiership for 2019 but Waikato will also be looking to gain some revenge for their Ranfurly Shield loss to Otago in round eight.

A win for Waikato will not see them reclaim the 'log o wood' but a victory for Waikato will go some way to healing the wounds from the Ranfurly Shield loss.
