Luther Burrell to leave Saints at end of season
Northampton Saints can today confirm that Luther Burrell will be leaving the Club at the end of the 2018/19 season.
The 31-year-old centre is in his seventh season at Franklin’s Gardens, and has notched up over 150 appearances in the Black, Green and Gold jersey.
RFU appoints Bill Sweeney as Chief Executive Officer
Bill Sweeney has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
He joins from the British Olympic Association (BOA) where he has been Chief Executive Officer since 2013. Full story
Ireland Squad update ahead of Italy
Irish Rugby have confirmed a 34-man squad for round 3 of the Six Nations Championship when they travel to Rome to play Italy in Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, February 24.
Tadhg Beirne and Iain Henderson are both back in the squad, with Will Addison having some lower back stiffness that is being managed at Ulster this week. Full story
Franco Naude to join Lions
Franco Naudé will join the Lions Rugby on loan from the Bulls with immediate effect.
Naudé will bolster the Lions squad at centre.
Russell ruled out of French Test
Scotland stand-off Finn Russell has been ruled out of this Saturday’s Six Nations Test against France in Paris with a head injury.
The fly-half failed an initial head injury assessment after going off just before the break in a Top 14 encounter for Racing 92 against Toulouse. Full story
Robbie Henshaw signs IRFU contract extension until 2022
The IRFU has confirmed that Robbie Henshaw has extended his IRFU contract which will see him play his rugby at Leinster up to at least the end of June 2022.
Robbie made his international debut against the USA in the summer of 2013 and has gone on to win 37 caps to date for Ireland.
