TOP 14 Round Two Wrap Up And Team Of The Week

Round Two in the Top 14 is complete and a picture is starting to show with Toulouse, Racing 92 and Castres boasting two wins and Montpellier unbeaten too with a draw and a win. Toulon, Clermont, La Rochelle and Stade Francais all have no wins from their opening games as the pressure mounts.
Clermont Auvergne Vs Castres Olympique:
Huge win for Castres away from home as they make it 2 from 2 for the season. Clermont had a good start and created a decent lead before Castres came back to within two at half time. They stayed in touch for the entire 2nd half and finished it off with a win 3 minutes from time.
Montpellier Vs Brive:
Montpellier kept their unbeaten streak alive as Foursans put in a great display helping the home side a to good victory at home despite missing out on a try bonus point. 8 tries in total in the game made it a great game for the fans but Montpellier will be kicking themselves for not pushing on after holding a 32-5 lead at the break and only scoring 5 points in the second half
Pau Vs Lyon:
Anoine Hastoy returned from his enforced rest to secure a 21-17 victory over Lyon with the flyhalf scoring all of Pau's points. Xavier Mignot scored the opener for Lyon in the 10th mintue before Pau were forced to play the remainder of the game with 14 men after Lekima Tagitagivalu being sent to the bin after 26 minutes. Leo Berdeu traded kicks with Pau leading 9-8 at halftime. Hastoy slotted three further penalties and a drop goal to secure the win for Pau with Leo Berdeu slotting two second half penalties as they failed to break down the Pau defence.
Perpignan Vs Biarritz Olympique:
A tough start for Biarritz as they saw two yelow cards early on to Saili and Speight. Tedder opened the scoring for Perpignan with a drop goal and the home side went on to record a good win despite suffering a yellow card themselves.
Union Bordeaux Begles Vs Stade Francais:
Comprehensive display by the home side as they secured a bonus point try in the last play of the game. The first 40 was very scrappy and just did not get going with plenty of handling errors but the second half sparked to life with Jalibert and Moefana having great games. Stade Francais Paris start the season with two big losses and zero log points
Racing 92 Vs La Rochelle:
A game full of knock on's from both sides saw Racing 92 emerge victorious. The game got off to a slow start with Racing 92 leading only 7-3 at the break. A double yellow card was awarded to both hookers late in the first half for repeated infringements. Racing 92 took control of the second half to seal their victory. The referee was replaced in the last 10 minutes after being stretched off the field for a suspected broken ankle after taking a nasty fall.
Toulouse Vs RC Toulon:
A dominant performance from the defending champions. Toulouse led 20-3 at the break with Ramos and Holmes scoring brilliant individual tries in the first half. Toulouse continued their dominance into the second half denying Toulon the opportunity to score any points until the 80th minute where Timani scored a consolidation try. Sosene-Feagai received a controversial yellow card for swinging his forearm into the head of Tauzin. Toulouse shoots to the top of the log after Round 2.
