Toulouse will be grateful that they will lock horns with La Rochelle in their familiar surroundings of Stade Ernest Wallon on Saturday when they take on La Rochelle.

The hosts are coming off a narrow defeat (33-30) which they suffered at the hands of Clermont last week while La Rochelle hit the ground running with a good win (29-15) over RC Toulon.

Toulouse will have to be at their best, it would appear, to topple a La Rochelle outfit who seem to have derived much benefit from their preparations during the hiatus as they exhibited strong defence and crafty attack in Round 1.

In light of this, however, La Rochelle’s discipline left much to be desired with all Toulon’s points coming from penalties. This could be an advantageous area for Toulouse to exploit as the teams draw swords.

Toulouse were unfortunate in their opening fixture as they initiated a fine fight-back in the second stanza and looked to have won the game at the death before the try was disallowed.

All things considered, this one is shaping up to be an interesting contest.
