Salvi to Exeter: Julian Salvi will move to Exeter Chiefs for the 2015/16 season the Devon based side have announced. As reported earlier on in the week Salvi had turned down a deal from Leicester to stay at the club and Rob Baxter has swooped in to sign the Australian flanker on a two year deal. Salvi joins the Chiefs with current Leicester man, Geoff Parling and also links up with former team mate Thomas Waldrom at Sandy Park. Chiefs have mad 8 additions to the squad for the 2015/16 season and are looking like serious contenders for the forthcoming campaign.
Another award for O'Connell: Ireland captain Paul O’Connell has taken his second personal accolade of the season after he was voted the IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year last night. The lock led Ireland to their second successive Six Nations title in the spring and was also voted best player of that tournament. This is the second time O’Connell has won the award, taking the honour almost a decade ago in 2006. The 35-year-old said: “It is really great to win this award, it’s hard to believe it is nine years ago that I last won it." Also at the awards Robbie Henshaw claimed the Nevin Spence young player of the year award for the third time in a row, while also claiming try of the year for his effort against England.
