The HUGE hit that denied Munster a late win
- 4370
Munster dominated possession for the final quarter as they went in search of a late try to beat Leinster in the second InterPro derby of the weekend but they couldn’t escape the smothering defence of Leinster who are now nine from nine and with a hugely impressive 42 points.
Leinster spent most of the first half containing Munster and managed to inch ahead, which they achieved on 10 minutes as James Lowe looped round the back of the attacking line to create space, front-rower Ed Byrne able to power over moments later.
Ross Byrne kicked the conversion and followed it up with two penalties as Leinster took control but Munster did get on the board just before the breakthrough JJ Hanrahan’s penalty, a feat repeated soon after the break.
It seemed as if Munster's fightback would come but it just didn't despite arrival off the bench of Joey Carbery who put in smart kicks downfield now with the wind behind him.
The moment that Leinster sealed the victory was the double-hit that came in from Will Connors and Sean Cronin on Darren O’Shea in the 75th minute after a long passage of Munster attack.

This halted Munster's attack and lead to a massive penalty win at the breakdown from Scott Fardy.
While Munster did get another opportunity after this hit, their following attacks were at far less intensity to it and they did look dead buried.
Some massive performances coming from the two back rows today #MUNvLEI https://t.co/xb3IFIlVTn
