Team of the weekend
- 7103
1. Mako Vunipola
His work rate around the park was exceptional, putting in 16 tackles and carrying 7 times. Strong on the ball and got on the scoresheet early on.
2. Jamie George
The England hooker is really nailing down a starting spot at hooker ahead of Schalk Brits. Like Mako Vunipola, his work rate was superb round the park and deserved his MOTM award.
3. BJ Botha
Munster weren't at their best on Saturday against Treviso, but Botha delivered once more for Anthony Foley's men. Nabbed a try which is always a plus for a prop.
4. Mike Williams
MOTM performance from Williams. Seemed to be everywhere on Friday night and put on a top defensive performance. Maro Itoje unlucky to miss out.
5. Joe Launchbury
Looked back to his best after previous injury concerns. Strong in defence and his fitness levels around the pitch were fantastic. A thorn in Leinster's side.
6. Tom Wood
Work rate was top class, great defence and a real asset to Northampton. Stood out in a lackluster game.
7. Brendan O'Connor
What a debut from the flanker. Was absolutely everywhere and nabbed a try too. Is eligible for England too, keep an eye on this guy.
8. Nathan Hughes
Got stuck into Leinster's pack and frustrated the boys in blue. Looked a level above Jamie Heaslip. Surely on course for an England call up soon
9. Joe Simpson
Another strong performance from the scrum half. His kicking game was excellent which led to Christian Wade's try, also scored a good try to put the game beyond Leinster.
10. Dan Biggar
Owen Farrell unlucky to miss out with a good performance against Toulouse but if it wasn't for Biggar's game management against Exeter, Ospreys probably would have lost. Great from the boot once more also.
11. Chris Wyles
The USA international notched 2 tries against Toulouse and looked a threat all game. Not spectacular tries but finished them how a winger should. Munster's Simon Zebo unlucky to miss out.
12. Brad Barritt
Looked back to his best on Saturday. A rock in defence and showed some good skills going forward. Special mention for Leicester's Matt Smith who also put in a fantastic performance at 12.
13. Elliot Daly
Impressive permormance from the youngster. Landed some important long range kicks and performed well in an impressive Wasps backline. One to watch for an England call up.
14. Frank Halai
The Wasps back 3 were a class above Leinster yesterday, Halai was impressive going forward and his defence was quality. Special mention for his crunching hit on Dave Kearney.
15. Charles Piutau
What a player this guy is. Ulster will licking their lips at the prospect of the All Black playing week in week out for them. Footwork was phenomenal and always looked a threat when taking on the Leinster defence.
