Super Rugby Highlights: Hurricanes vs Sharks (QF)
- 2586
The Hurricanes become the second New Zealand team to reach this years Super Rugby semi final as they embarrassed the Sharks by running in 6 tries and keeping the Sharks scoreless, being the first team to hold a side to zero in a Super Rugby quarter final. While the weather conditions were not ideal, the Sharks started strong but their confidence and spirit withered as the wind guided their attempts at goal astray. Stats show that both sides shared equal possession and territory but some might say that the Sharks kicked away possession and their opportunities, allowing the Hurricanes to show their dominance and run at them, capitalising on more of the opportunities they had.
Unfortunately Hurricanes captain Dane Cole will not be playing in the semi finals next week due to what looks like a cracked rib or two. Ultimately the Hurricanes were the stronger team and proved why they ended the season on top of the overall standings.
