Super Rugby Aotearoa: The Top Five Players Of The Day
- 2007
In dramatic fashion, the Hurricanes managed to give Scott Robinson his first home defeat as a head coach, as they narrowly beat the Crusaders 34-32 in Christchurch on Saturday.
The Saders come into this game on the back of an eight-game winning streak and were undefeated in their last 36 Super Rugby games on their home ground (W35, D1).
The Canes have now won nine of their last 11 Super Rugby games away from home in a regular season and have put themselves in the mix to possibly win this year's competition.
Let’s take a closer look to see who performed well during this epic encounter.
Wes Goosen (Hurricanes)
The 24-year-old got selected ahead of inform Kobus van Wyk, and he simply justified his start today. Goosen played the full 80 minutes this morning and also scored two fantastic tries which were his first in Super Rugby Aotearoa.
The winger also managed 59 metres with the ball in hand, beat two defenders, had one clean break and made eight out of his nine tackles.

Ardie Savea (Hurricanes)
The All Black flanker did necessarily have numbers that blew up charts but the work off the ball was simply brilliant. The 26-year-old carried the ball eight times and made 22 metres with the ball in hand.
On defence, he was tidy and made nine tackles in the 80 minutes of play.

Peter Umaga-Jensen (Hurricanes)
The youngster had a fantastic outing in the No. 13 jersey but was unfortunately forced to leave the field after 62 minutes. The 22-year-old scored a match winning try, beat four defenders and had 2 clean breaks today.
He can also brag that he had an 80% tackle completion rate against the Crusaders.
Richie Mo'unga (Crusaders)
The New Zealand international was arguably the best Crusaders player on the park today. The No. 10 controlled things today and managed some big numbers on attack. He scored 17 points, made 99 metres with the ball, beat 11 defenders and had 4 clean breaks.

Sevu Reece (Crusaders)
It is tough to think that the 23-year-old was on the losing side today after seeing these impressive numbers. Reece made 124 metres with ball in hand, he beat six defenders, had 4 clean breaks and also made 100% of his tackles in 80 minutes of play.
