Super Rugby Aotearoa: The Top Five Players Of The Day

The Crusaders bounced back from their loss to the Hurricanes last weekend, running in 5 tries to beat the Chiefs 32-19.

The victory have won seven of their last nine Super Rugby games against the Chiefs, including an 18-13 win when they met in Round 3 of Super Rugby Aotearoa – their third-lowest aggregate score of all-time in Super Rugby.

The Chiefs are still winless in the competition after 8 matches and now see their club-record loss extended.

Here are five top players from today’s match:

Cody Taylor (Crusaders)

The All Black hooker led his side brilliantly today and put in a big performance for his team. On attack, Taylor scored a neat try off a rolling maul, made eight carries and also beat two defenders with ball in hand.

Lachlan Boshier (Chiefs)

The flanker was on the losing side again but really produced good numbers in his position. Boshier carried the ball for 26 metres today but he won multiple turnovers and scored a try which almost brought the Chiefs back into the game.

Pita Gus Sowakula (Chiefs)

The 25-year-old played a full 80 minutes today and made 39 metres with ball in hand. Sowakula made a total of 17 carries and he also produced 14 tackles.

Will Jordan (Crusaders)

Is there something Will Jordan cannot do currently? He was nothing short of magical today and played a full 80 minutes yet again. The 22-year-old made 84 metres with ball in hand, beat five defenders, had two clean breaks and scored a wonderful try.

It is also worth mentioning that he made 100% of his tackles today.

Richie Mo'unga (Crusaders)

The All Black international controlled things today and really loved going forward with the ball in hand. On attack, Mo’unga beat seven defenders, and made 54 metres with ball in hand.

The fly half made 100% of his tackles but his kicking wasn't on form today.
