Springbok flanker set for lengthy injury layoff

Sharks and Springbok flanker Jean-Luc du Preez is set to undergo surgery on a long-standing groin injury and will be out of action for several weeks.
Du Preez was released from the Springbok squad earlier this week, and on his return to the Sharks, coach Robert du Preez confirmed that he will undergo an operation on Friday.
The 23-year-old started the first Test against England in June, while he played off the bench in the next two clashes. However, he will now take the opportunity to treat a troublesome groin injury and will be sidelined for the entire Currie Cup season.
He should recover in time to be considered for the Springboks’ end-of-year tour.
