Springbok centre Jan Serfontein has extended his stay at TOP14 side Montpellier having arrived at the club in October 2017 from Pretoria-based Super Rugby side the Bulls.
The former World Rugby U20s player of the year quickly became a key figure in the Montpellier line up in his first two seasons with the club and has featured 29 times (25 in the starting line up) for the club this season scoring six tries scored.
The Springbok centre has decided to extend its contract for three additional seasons, until 2023.
Serfontein will be joined by his former u20s, Bulls and Springbok teammate Handre Pollard at the club next season. Montpellier do have a strong contingent of South African players with the du Plessis brothers on the clubs books as well as recent French test debutant Paul Willemse, Nico Janse van Rensburg and Herny Immelman.
Montpellier have also brought in the likes of France captain Guilhem Guirado and Bath scrum half Kahn Fotuali'i.
Injuries prevented Serfontein from featuring for the Springboks last year and he has been tipped for a recall ahead of the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
