Sonny Bill Williams ruled out France tests

The All Blacks have been dealt another injury blow ahead of the three test series against France after the news that centre Sonny Bill Williams has been ruled out through injury.
The 32-year-old has aggravated an old knee injury, with Blues medical staff discovering a loose piece of bone in the joint. Williams will undergo keyhole surgery on Friday and is set to be out of all rugby for several weeks, and will be unable to train for at least four.
The All Blacks midfield stocks will be tested by Williams' absence, with fellow incumbent Ryan Crotty also under a concussion cloud that has sidelined him for the Crusaders.
While Sam Whitelock has also been struggling with a concussion with Crusaders coaching staff stating that were not rushing his return.
Anton Lienert-Brown, Jack Goodhue and Ngani Laumape along with Crotty are the other centres in the squad with Hansen also able to use Rieko Ioane and Jordie Barrett in the centres.
If Hansen were to replace Williams in the squad, Highlanders centre Rob Thompson is a likely candidate with Charlie Ngatai fit as well.
Williams' injury could also open the door for Hurricanes wing Ben Lam with a number of players covering the midfield.
The All Blacks staff are expected to provide a further update on Monday.
