Six Nations games will not be automatically cancelled, say bosses

The Six Nations bosses have agreed that the 2021 Six Nations games will not be automatically cancelled in the event of another Coronavirus outbreak while the tournament is on the go, stressing that a concerted effort will be made to observe all fifteen tests.

If certain fixtures have to be called off, the plan is to play them during the tournament’s two ‘fallow’ weeks.

There is currently no formal rule in place pertaining to a number of cases which will force postponement of games, but the idea is that games will be postponed and not cancelled should the need arise.

The administrators hope to avoid a situation such as the one which plagued Fiji in the Autumn Nations Cup – in which all but one of their games were called off after an outbreak of Coronavirus.
