One of the main talking points of the 2022 Six Nations competition was Italy’s right to participate in the Championship after a truly abysmal run of results that, many felt, was bad for the tournament’s reputation.

Before 19 March 2022, The Azzurri had suffered a drought of seven years without the taste of victory. However, showing great character in the face of significant adversity, they marched into the Principality Stadium with a point to prove.
