Sir Clive Woodward holds talks with France

Sir Clive Woodward moved a significant step towards becoming the France head coach when he arrived in Paris yesterday to meet officials of the French Rugby Federation (FFR).

The former England head coach emerged on Monday as a surprise contender for the job once it becomes available after the World Cup when Philippe Saint-Andre, the present head coach, will stand down from the role.

Woodward is on a shortlist of names being considered as the replacement.

Woodward’s meetings yesterday were his first face-to-face contact with the FFR.
