Sharks look to chomp the Chiefs as Round 11 kicks off
- 1376
With 10 rounds done and dusted in Premiership, Round 11 kicks off with two of the top 4 battling it out at the AJ Bell: Sale Sharks vs Exeter Chiefs.
With both sides ending up on the wrong side of the score-board last week, expect a steeling clash in this fixture as both teams fight to remain in the upper echelons of the table.
Sale were downed quite convincingly by Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop. Quins were fantastic during a first half in which they had already mapped out a victory. While it was by no means a poor performance by Sale, they struggled against a rigid Quins defence while the latter were also difficult to stop once they found rhythm on attack.
While Sale were being quelled by the Quins, Exeter were having a tough time of things at Sandy Park, from where Northampton Saints departed with four points in the bag after a 13-12 victory.
The conditions were difficult and both teams courageous, but it was Northampton who drew first blood showed enough determination in their clever tactics to mine out the win.
Defending champions Chiefs are slowly creeping up on log-leaders Bristol Bears, now just 3 points behind Pat Lam’s men on 37.
Sale are 4 behind third-placed Quins (32) and 6 behind Chiefs (34) and will be mindful of Saints now breathing down their necks on 26 points.
At the end of the most recent clash between these two sides – in Round 15 of the 2019-20 tournament – it was Exeter posted the win with a score 32-22.
With both teams eager to temper the disappointment of last round with some satisfaction in this one, we can expect no-nonsense displays from both units, which will more than likely manifest a in match worth watching.
