Sean Scanlon signs as Nottingham player-coach for next season

Nottingham Rugby have announced that full-back Sean Scanlon has signed for next season.

Signing for the Green and Whites in 2017, Sean has become a key figure on and off the field for Neil Fowkes’ team and, as of next year, he will be taking on the role of player-coach in the side.

He will be taking on several duties within the squad as an assistant coach.

Sean said: “I’m really pleased that I’ll be wearing a Green and White jersey again next year and I can’t wait to get started in my new role as a coach.

“There is a real togetherness in our squad and I am excited about what the future holds for our boys.”

Speaking about Sean’s new role, head coach Neil Fowkes said: “I am delighted that Sean will be staying with us for next season.

“We identified his qualities as a leader and a coach from his work with Dronfield and it’s a real pleasure to welcome him to our coaching team next year.

“He’s incredibly experienced at Championship level and I think the younger players will benefit from his insight.”
