Scarlets sign journeyman Welsh international

Scarlets have confirmed the short-term signing of Welsh international Aled Brew.

The club have some injury issues at present with Johnny McNicholl out for approximately eight weeks with damage to his ankle while Tomi Lewis staring down the barrel of twelve months’ recovery time after knee surgery.

In light of this, head coach Glenn Delaney saw fit to bring the 34 year old Brew into the mix – making the winger one of few players to have represented all four Welsh regional sides.

“Unfortunately, we have picked up a couple of injuries in the back three with Johnny and Tomi and we expect others to be involved with Wales this autumn,” Delaney said.

“We have some talented youngsters coming through, but Aled brings that added top-level experience in the PRO14, TOP 14, Premiership and international rugby as we prepare for what will be a demanding few months for our squad.”
