SBW set for an off field league switch - reports

All Blacks' midfielder Sonny Bill Williams could be set for a return to rugby league but not in the role you'd expect.

Williams is off contract with New Zealand Rugby at the end of the Rugby World Cup and has once again been linked with a switch back to rugby league but this time in a coaching capacity.

Danny Weidler revealed in his column for the Sydney Morning Herald that Roosters chairman Nick Politis has a desire to get Williams back to the Roosters in a coaching role.

Williams won a premiership with the Roosters in 2013 and also played for the club the following season - between winning Rugby World Cups with the All Blacks in 2011 and 2015.

Weidler reported Politis was spotted having breakfast with Williams' adviser Khoder Nasser last week in an inner-city Sydney cafe.

"We were talking about olives and honey and nothing else," Nasser told Weidler when asked what the conversation was about.

This is just one of the many post World Cup moves that Williams has been linked with, with Canadian-based Super League side Toronto Wolfpack expressing an interest in signing Williams and earlier this month.
