Saturday Super Rugby Top Performers - Round 12

The Hurricanes continued winning with an impressive 28-19 victory over the Lions while the Blues held onto a slender lead to beat the Waratahs 21-24.
Here are our Top Performers from the opening two games of the day:
Ben Lam
The powerful winger furthered his claim for an All Black jersey in June with a hattrick against the Lions.
Lam gained 80 running metres from his 12 carries beating 3 defenders and made 4 offloads.
He displayed some super strength for his first two tries and was on the end of brilliant team move for the third.

Marnus Schoeman
Schoeman made the most of his first start and was the top performer for the Lions making a match-high of 20 tackles.
He was consent threat at the breakdown coming up with 2 pilfers.
On attack, he made 30 running metres from his 8 carries and beat a match-high of 5 defenders and capped off a great performance.
Ardie Savea
A strong all-round performance by Ardie Savea as he made 10 tackles and 9 carries.
The busy flanker won two turnovers for his side and collected 57 running metres and beat 3 defenders from his 9 carries.
He also did well to put Matt Proctor through a gap from a stolen lineout before he finished the try off himself.
Rieko Ioane
The Speedster opened the scoring for the Blues and could have doubled his tally soon afterwards after he ran 70 metres before failing to place the ball before getting up to dive over.
Nonetheless, he managed 120 running metres, beat 3 defenders and made 2 clean breaks.
Kurtely Beale
The Wallaby playmaker was at his best against the Blues with some brilliant passes and vision.
Beale and Folaus worked well together throughout the match notably in the build-up to Kepu's try.
He also put Hooper in through for a try at a crucial time in the second half, that gave the Waratahs the opportunity to steal the win.
Micheal Hooper
Hooper battled hard in a losing effort against the Blues. He hit double digits in carries and tackles made and a ran a perfect line to score a try that gave the home side the opportunity to snatch a win over the Blues.
