Rumble in The Rec: Bath vs Leicester Tigers
- 1907
Bath will be hoping to hit some better form this weekend when they host Leicester at The Rec.
Bath will not be given much chance in this fixture as they – in last place on the log – take on the table-topping Tigers. Last week, Neal Hatley’s men fell heavily to Wasps, 41-24:
The week before that, Bath were resolutely thumped by Saracens, 40-3. The last joy they had was in Round 14 when they managed to knock over Harlequins, 21-17.
Meanwhile, Leicester have been chugging along well, their most recent exploit seeing them take down Northampton Saints 35-20:
To date, the Tigers have lost just two of their 15 outings and will prove some handful for Bath.
The last time the two sides came up against each other was in Round 8, when Leicester won convincingly, 40-23:
Looking ahead to the match, Leicester boss Steve Borthwick said:
"We are privileged to have such brilliant fans here at Leicester Tigers and what they deserve, every week, is a team that plays hard. We want our performances to make our supporters proud.
"There has been a lot of investment, on and off the pitch, in that group over a number of years and you can see the quality throughout it.
"The group Stuart Hooper has there is a seriously impressive group of players.
"They will have a big crowd there, including what will undoubtedly be a great away group of our supporters, and I have no doubt that they [Bath] will be very keen on getting a good result at The Rec against Leicester Tigers."
Bath centre Jonathan Joseph had the following to say:
“We know it’s always a physical battle when you play Leicester; the game is always won up front. We know we have a huge physical battle ahead of us and hopefully we can match that, if not better it."
