South Africa set the tone early up front and dominated England in the set pieces, notably in the scrum where they in all but one scrum had the upper hand. Duane Vermeulen put in a Man of the Match performance well supported by Siya Kolisi and Pieter Steph du Toit. Both sides lost players early to injury due to the physical nature of the game.
England were unable to get the better of the fine defensive performance by the Springboks and it caught up with them when the Springboks ran in 2 tries in the second half, one a brilliant exchange between Am and Mapimpi out on the left giving the winger a try and the second when Kolbe weaved his magic.
