Rugby New York have bid farewell to Head Coach Marty Veale. Despite leading the team to their first ever Major League Rugby title, the club says they have decided to go in a different direction for the 2023 season. The 45-year-old was the team’s third Head Coach following Mike Tolkin and Greg McWilliams.
Veale joined the team as Forwards Coach under McWilliams ahead of the 2020 campaign. He then stepped into the leading role when McWilliams suddenly stepped down for personal reasons just before the 2021 season began. In two seasons as Head Coach, Veale’s win-loss record stands at 23-13.
A former Assistant Coach for the US Eagles, Veale is currently acting as Defense Coach for Northland in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship. The Christchurch native had previously played for the Taniwha, as well as North Harbour before a three-year stint with Wasps in the English Premiership. Full story via americasrugbynews
