Rugby Australia Boss: Israel Folau's reported payout 'wildly inaccurate'

Rugby Australia boss Raelene Castle has responded to reports that the settlement Israel Folau received was in the region of $8 million, labelling it as ‘wildly inaccurate’.
The former Wallabies and Waratahs fullback was after $14 million in compensation for wrongful termination but Rugby Australia was determined to hold its ground as mediation ordered by the Federal Circuit Court began this week and a marathon 12-hour session on Monday failed to yield a result as both sides remained at loggerheads.
However, on Wednesday, Folau, the Waratahs and Rugby Australia released a joint statement saying they had reached an agreement, settling for a confidential amount.
Castle took to Twitter to say the settlement number was confidential and that the reports were way off.

Former Wallaby and writer Peter FitzSimons voiced his opinion in a column for the Sydney Morning Herald were he guessed much lower figure.
“I have no inside knowledge of the terms, not even a hint, but my bet is it will be about $200,000 to $300,000,” he wrote.
