REPORT: COVID-19 Outbreak Puts Sale Sharks' Semi-Final Hopes In Doubt

The final round of the Premiership season has been thrown into chaos after an outbreak of COVID-19 amongst the players at Sale Sharks according to a report by Nik Simon at the Daily Mail.

Sale Sharks' crunch game against Worcester could be cancelled after a ‘double-figure number’ of positive tests at the club the report states.

The final round of the season is set to see the likes of Sale, Wasps, Bristol and Bath all vying for the three remaining play-off places but Sale's involvement now seems unlikely.

Premiership Rugby Permutations: Who Needs What In The Final Round?

Steve Diamond's men could now be forced to forfeit the match, leaving Wasps and Bath with a guaranteed semi-final, and Bristol needing just one point against London Irish.


This situation could suit Worcester too with the club vying for 8th place and a spot in the Champions Cup next season.
